1960s Champagne Arm Chair by Estelle and Erwine Laverne for Formes Nouvelles in Lucite and Aluminum
This is a Champagne Chair, designed by Estelle & Erwine Laverne in 1957. It was made by Formes Nouvelles. This piece was produced in the early 1960s as part of their Invisible series. It features a cast-acrylic perspex shell, and has a tulip-shaped revolving base. It has a cushion that is removable, currently upholstered in a Peacock Blue silk-velvet. It is properly stamped underneath, “Made in Italy, Champagne Chair Laverne, Formes Nouvelles”.
This chair measures 23.5 inches deep, 23.75 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high. There are some signs of wear on the base, and to the acrylic. The velvet seat is in good condition with minor rubbing. Overall, this example is in very good vintage condition with light wear. Please see photos.
