1948 Set of Four DCW Dining Chairs by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in Calico Ash
This is a set of four DCW Dining Chairs in Calico Ash, initially designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. These are ultra-rare, early examples that were produced by the Evans Plywood Company circa 1948. One chair retains its original Evans label. One chair was previously drilled through the panel panel, however, we had it sent out to a master woodworker, who did an inlayed veneer repair that makes it barely visible. The other three chairs were untouched.
Each chair measures 20.5 inches deep, 19.5 inches wide, and 29 inches high. Their seat height is 18 inches. There is a patinated finish on the wood that gives a nice definition to the grain. There is some age evident on the original screws and hardware, and there is some fading to the finish of the seats. Overall, this important set is in good vintage condition with some signs of time.
