1960s MR20 Chair by Mies van der Rohe for Knoll in Chromed Steel with Hair on Hide
This is a vintage MR20 Armchair, originally designed by Mies van der Rohe in 1927. We believe that it was likely produced by Knoll or Thonet in the 1960s. The chair was part of the collection of Gratz Industries, who restored and reupholstered the piece with a thick belting leather hair-on-hide. Its sculptural frame is composed of highly polished tubular steel, and this particular example features arms.
This chair measures 32 inches deep, 22 inches wide and 33 inches high. It has a seat height of 18 inches. The new hide upholstery is in superb condition, with no rubs or missing hair. The springs were replaced and are not stretched out. There are some very light feather scratches on the tubular frame, but the steel is shiny and presents beautifully with no pitting or rust.
