1984 Herman Miller Eames 3734 Tandem Four Seater Arm Shell Bench in Gray Naugahyde
Listed for sale is a Herman Miller Eames Tandem four seater bench, model 3734 base and 3730 top, designed by Ray and Charles Eames. This set was manufactured circa 1984 and is in very good vintage condition. The base is constructed from steel and aluminum. The shells are Eames arm shells in black fiberglass with upholstered gray vinyl (Naugahyde) seats. The upholstery does show some wear, including scratches, imperfections, and a cigarette burn as shown. They are in totally usable condition though do show some wear as noted.
This bench along with a number of pieces came from an iconic brutalist government building in Mississippi, designed by a well regarded architect of that era.
Dimensions are 104 inches long by 32 inches tall and 23 inches deep.
We do have two other four-seater benches available, though this example photographed has the nicer shells of the group. One other bench is in similar condition, whereas the last would require fresh upholstery or repairs.
