1970s Pair of 1315 Lounge Chairs by Bill Stephens for Knoll in Oak and Fabric
This is a pair of Model 1315 Lounge Chairs, originally designed by Bill Stephens for Knoll in 1967. This pair dates to the early 1970s, and the listed price includes the pair. Their design features an oak wood frame that has a satin lacquered finish, and they have an upholstered seat and back. Their original light tan hopsack upholstery remains intact. This silhouette made its debut in 1967 as a part of Stephens seminal 1300 collection. His prowess with bent woods would lead him to become the principal designer for Knoll's Design and Development Group in 1971.
Each lounge chair measures 31 inches deep, 29 inches wide, and is 29 inches high. They have a seat height of 18 inches and an arm height of 23.5 inches. The original upholstery shows age and is ready to be replaced. The cushions are firm, but not crunchy. We’ve intentionally left the wood frames in their original state, and they show several nicks and scuffs. Overall, these chairs are in solid shape with signs of wear apparent. Please see photos.
