1960s Brno Chair, Model MR50 by Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich for Knoll in Polished Stainless Steel and Black Leather 6x Available
These are Brno Armchairs, model MR50, initially designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lily Reich in 1929. These particular examples were produced by Knoll in the 1960s. The listed price includes one MR50, and we have six available for purchase in this colorway. The design features a flat, polished stainless-steel frame, utilized throughout the silhouette on both the arms and at the cantilever base. The flat-bar construction was a novel idea to emerge at the time, as the tubular stylings of the Bauhaus had but recently established themselves as the mode de-rigueur.
Each MR50 chair measures 22.5 inches long, 22.75 inches wide, and 31.5 inches high. Their seat height is 17.5 inches, and their arm height is 25.75 inches. The steel frames are in good original condition with some scratches, and their leather upholstery has some marks and scratches, Overall, these chairs are in good vintage condition showing wear. They could either be used as/is or reupholstered. Please see photos.
