1947 DCW Dining Chair by Charles and Ray Eames for Evans Products Company / Herman Miller in Calico Ash with Rare Upholstery
This is a mega rare upholstered Eames DCW dining chair, dating to circa 1947. It has the 5-2-5 screw pattern underneath, indicating production by Evans Products Company for Herman Miller. This example is in very good to excellent vintage condition with some light wear from use and nice patina. See photos. The hardware appears to be completely original and wood is calico ash. It should be noted that upholstered Eames plywood chairs are generally coveted in any condition, but to find one with seemingly intact and original upholstery is beyond unusual.
The chair came from a Manhattan, New York estate and has been in the collection of an architect and longtime collector of rare Eames works.
This chair measures 29.875 inches tall by 19.5 inches wide and 21.25 inches deep. The seat height is 17.5 inches.
