This is a set of four Brno chairs, model MR50, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe & Lily Reich in 1929. These particular examples were produced by Knoll in the 1960s. The listed price includes the set of four chairs, as shown. The silhouette features a flat, polished stainless steel frame, utilized throughout the design in both the arms and at its cantilever base. This stainless steel flat-bar construction was a novel idea to emerge at the time, as the tubular stylings of the Bauhaus had but recently established themselves as le-mode-de-rigueur. Each MR50 chair measures 22.5 inches long, 22.75 inches wide and 31.5 inches high. The seat height is 17.5 inches, and the arm height is 25.75 inches. The steel frames are in very good original condition with some light wear from use. Their upholstery is in need of replacement, as the foam has hardened and the original hopsack fabric has faded. Overall, this set is in good vintage condition showing wear. Please see photos.
