1980s Cassina LC2 Three Seat Sofa in Black Leather by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand
This is an LC-2 Three-Seat Sofa, initially designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand. This example dates to the 1980s and was manufactured in Italy by Cassina. Cassina has been the only exclusively licensed producer of this model since 1965. The design features an outer frame of highly polished chromed-steel, has lush black leather upholstery, and offers generously-sized removable cushions. The aforementioned designers referred to this piece as “household equipment”, a rather amusing way to look at furniture.
The sofa measures 27.6 inches deep, 71 inches wide, and is 26.4 inches high. It has an arm height of 26.4 inches, and a seat height of 18.9 inches. There is some minor wear on the leather, including some small scuffs and scratches. There is also a patina to the leather that has rendered it to be soft & supple. The original Cassina label is affixed under the seat. Overall, this sofa is in very good condition. Please see photos.
