SOLD 1961 Pair of Herman Miller Eames Aluminum Group Lounge Chairs Charcoal Naugahyde
Listed for sale is a gorgeous pair of Herman Miller Eames aluminum group lounge chair with high backs and head pillows. These are the most rare and sought after of early Eames aluminum group pieces, as well as the most luxurious. The chairs were introduced in 1958. These examples do not show patent pending labels and thus likely date to circa 1961. The pair was acquired from an estate near Ithaca, New York (home to Cornell University). They are unbelievably well preserved and are some of the nicest early aluminum group pieces we've ever seen. Charles Eames notably stated that Charcoal Naugahyde was his material of choice and thus, it is wonderful to see these examples shown in that exact material. The chairs measure approximately 40 inches tall by 32 inches deep and 26 inches wide. The chairs do show some light wear as expected for vintage pieces. Please see photos.
The price listed is for each (one) chair. Two chairs are available from the same estate. We have another matching chair from the same era in marvelous condition, which came from another source.
