1968 Herman Miller Eames ES102 Intermediate Desk Chair in Black Naugahyde
This is an Eames Intermediate Desk Chair, Model ES102, designed by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in 1968. This early example dates to around that same time period. This example has black Naugahyde upholstery and has a universal Eames four-star swivel base with antler top. Production of this design ceased in 1973 once the Soft Pad collection made its debut and became successful; Therefore, few were produced, rendering it rather scarce.
The chair measures 23.75 inches deep, 25 inches wide, and 32 inches high. It has a seat height of 18.5 inches. The left arm has some scratches on the metal and on the armrest. There are some light scratches and scuffs on the base. This piece came to us from the University of Kansas and is properly stamped with the Herman Miller logo. Overall, this chair is in very good vintage condition. The naugahyde upholstery is remarkably well preserved. Please see photos.
