1956 Herman Miller RAR Rocking Chair by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in Fiberglass
This is a ‘RAR’ Rocking Chair, designed by Charles & Ray Eames in 1950. This particular chair dates to around 1956. The piece features a molded fiberglass-reinforced plastic shell seat in the coveted Parchment colorway. The base has black oxidized-steel legs, and the runners are done in birch. The parts are all original.
The chair measures 27 inches long, 25 inches wide, and is 27 inches high. It has a seat height of 16 inches. The metal base shows some patina at joinery. The runners are in solid condition with scuffs and scrapes throughout. The shell has been left original, though it can easily be cleaned prior to shipping if desired. Overall, this RAR is in good condition with some wear. Please see photos.
