1953 LCW Lounge Chair by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller in Calico Ash
This is an LCW Lounge Chair, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1948. It is an early Herman Miller example featuring the 5-2-4 screw pattern, dating it to ca. 1953. The chair is composed of Calico Ash, and its age has only contributed to its beauty. The finish has become smooth from use producing a satiny sheen. The Ash has taken on a warm tone, and the flowing grain of the wood has become more distinguished.
The chair measures 25.25 inches deep, 20 inches wide, and 26.5 inches high. It has a seat height of 15.38 inches. We have intentionally left this piece in patinated condition. The wood has darkened along the edges and feet, and there are several small scratches and rubs. There is some wear to the top of the seat on reverse. Overall, this LCW chair is in very good condition with some signs of use. Please see photos.
