1948 George Nakashima for Knoll Associates N-12 Extension Dining Table in Birch
Listed for sale is a very early, rare N-12 extension dining table, designed by George Nakashima and produced by Knoll Associates. This is one of the earliest examples of furniture produced by George Nakashima, as he collaborated with Knoll only during the easiest part of his career in furniture. Pieces by Knoll were produced prior to Nakashima establishing himself within his own studio practice.
Between the late 1940's and early 1950's, pieces designed by Nakashima were both being produced by Knoll in their factory and simultaneously produced by Nakashima in his studio. This N-12 example represents one of only two or so dining table designs for Knoll Associates. It still retains its original label underneath. The table measures 54 inches long by 36 inches wide and 28 inches tall. It is technically an extension table, which would receive 2x 9-inch leaves, however, we do not have any leaves for it. For an additional fee, our woodworker could make two new ones for it if desired. Condition overall is very good to excellent with some wear from use and with a beautiful patina. Please see photos.
