1970s Kontiki Three Seat Sofa by Arne Norell for Scanform with New Upholstery
This is a Kontiki Three-Seat Leather Sofa, initially designed by Arne Norell in 1970. This example was produced by Scanform in Colombia in the early 1970s. The ‘Kontiki’ line was inspired by the movable nature of safari furniture, in that it can be assembled and disassembled for travel. The wooden teak frame is held together by strong leather belts, without the use of glue or screws. We have had the straps and cushions fully reupholstered in a fine rust-hued leather. The frame has also been freshly sanded and refinished by hand.
This sofa measures 30 inches deep, 90 inches wide, and 29 inches high. It has a seat height of 17 inches. The frame is in terrific shape, as is the new leather upholstery. The buckles are firm and function as they should. Overall, this sofa is in excellent condition. Please see photos.
