Listed for sale is a gorgeous ash leaf maple (also known as acer negundo) spherical turned wood bowl with high gloss finish, produced by renowned woodworker Philip Moulthrop. The piece came from a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania estate along with a number of other phenomenal sculpture works. The piece measures approximately 11 inches all around. It shows some light wear to the finish around the rim, though generally presents in gorgeous condition. The sculptural work is significant in that the Moulthrop family across three generations is known for producing some of the most iconic wood-turned forms of the 20th and 21st century. This example likely dates to the early 1980s.
