SOLD 1997 Mira Nakashima Minguren I Special 42 inch Round Black Walnut Dining Table
Listed for sale is a very special solid black walnut Minguren I dining table, designed and crafted by Mira Nakashima and the Nakashima Woodworkers in New Hope, Pennsylvania. This example was acquired directly from a Virginia Estate, which had a small collection of Nakashima pieces. This particular example is a 42 inch round table, which has two glued-up and book-matched boards of black walnut tied together with iconic butterfly joints. The butterflies are made from rosewood, whereas the rest of the table is constructed from Pennsylvania black walnut. This is a somewhat early example of Mira Nakashima's work, as she began producing works under her name following George Nakashima's passing in 1990. The table is beautifully constructed and finished. Its also one of the most minimal variants for a dining table, as the vertical slab and perpendicular foot allow the top to float and cantilever. The table measures 28.5 inches tall and is ideal as a dining table for 2-5 chairs. The table is signed by Mira Nakashima and guaranteed as authentic.
