C. 1961 George Nelson for Herman Miller 55 inch Walnut Credenza Cabinet
This is a Large Walnut Credenza, designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller in the late 1950s. This particular piece dates to circa 1961. It features a steel frame with a walnut veneer case, and it retains its original chromed-steel pulls. It offers lots of storage, having two deep drawers for filing, two drawers on the top, and cabinet space on the right. One of the drawers has a removable writing surface. The legs of the piece echo the pulls with their chromed-steel finish, and it has a fully back finished in black.
The credenza measures 19.5 inches deep, 55.75 inches wide, and 26 inches high. There is evidence of a small repair on the left-hand side of the piece. There is minimal surface wear, including scuffs and scratches on the walnut. There is a shallow chip to the veneer on the top, and the pulls have a slight patina. Overall, this credenza is in very good vintage condition. It came from an estate in Ithaca, New York. Please see photos.
