1952 DCM Dining Chair by Charles and Ray Eames for Evans / Herman Miller with Rare Upholstery
This is an Eames DCM Side Chair, originally designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1946. This early example was manufactured circa 1952, and it appears to be a late Evans / early Herman Miller production. We believe this due to the presence of the round connectors on the back (which are considered part of the early Evans production), while the chair has a HM Foil Label. As there was a transitional period, this places production during that time around 1952. DCM is an acronym for Dining Height (D) Side Chair (C) on Metal (M) Rod Base.
The piece measures 21.5 inches long, 19.5 inches wide, and 29.25 inches high. It has a seat height of 18 inches. This chair is original in every way to our knowledge, a true collector's item. It shows oxidation from age to the steel frame. The upholstery has rips. Overall, the piece is in solid condition with signs of use. Please see photos. This came from an estate in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
