SOLD 1949 Pair of N19 Straight Chairs By George Nakashima For Knoll in Cherry
This is a set of two N19 Straight Chairs, designed by George Nakashima for Knoll Associates in 1946. These are early examples, dating to circa 1949. The listed price is for the pair. The Straight Chair was Nakashima’s modern, minimalist take on the Windsor chair. This is not the super early version (which is more sculpted), as it has a flat seat and not the more finely sculpted seat that tapers from front to back. This pair appears to be made of Cherry.
Each N19 chair measures 17.5 inches long, 22.5 inches wide, and 30 inches high. They have a seat height of 17.25 inches. There is some wear present on both chairs. Overall, this pair is in good to very good vintage condition. Please see photos.
