Listed for sale is a Breitling Navitimer 806 in original, untouched condition (aside from maintenance). It is one of the earliest navitimers generations, shown by the all black dial and sundials. The watch was sold to me from the estate of the original owner and is guaranteed to be all original. This watch in particular is also one that is part of a grouping of serial numbers that was thought to be from 1953. According to breitling records, this watch's serial number 825345 would be from the absolute earliest generation of Navitimers in 1953. Most people, however, could only find evidence of the navitimer being produced in 1954 and onwards. Through various methods of research, watch collectors came to asking someone at Breitling. They responded with the likelihood that these watches were not from 1953, but were instead stamped with an 8 rather than a 9. Thus, this watch would date to 1960.
Movement: This watch uses a venus 178 and is in functional condition with the watch keeping good time and chronograph functioning.
Measurements: The case measures 40 mm excluding the crown.
Condition: The watch is in excellent cosmetic condition, with great patina and minor dings to note on the back of the watch. Some light scratches can also be found, which can be polished out if desired.
Service History: While no formal service history is available, the watch back indicates at least three previous services.
